What's a vanity address?

A vanity address is a wallet address with a part you chose, so it looks less random and is easier to recognize. Examples:

  • UQCcoffeeโ€ฆx7Kp
  • UQA9fโ€ฆGRAM

A TON wallet address always starts with UQ, and the third character can only be A, B, C or D, so your text begins at the fourth character. You can use Latin letters, digits, - and _.

How it works

Enter a short start and/or end for the address and click Find address. Your browser generates random wallets until one matches.

When an address is found, reveal its recovery phrase and import it into your wallet.

Each extra character makes the search about 32 times longer, or 64 times with case matching (Aa) on. Digits always need an exact match. Changing the number of CPU threads raises or lowers the speed, so lower it if your computer slows down.

The 50% time is an estimate, not a countdown. Every address is a fresh try, so a search can end at once or take several times longer, and time already spent doesn't bring the result closer.

Security

All calculations happen in your browser. Nothing leaves your device: there's no database and no server code, and the page's security policy stops its scripts from making network requests. The phrase disappears when you close the tab.

Vanity Keys can't store your phrase. If you want to be sure, you have three options:

  • Disconnect from the internet after the page loads and keep using it
  • Download the page and use it on an offline computer
  • Inspect the download: everything the page does is in that one HTML file

Phrases come from crypto.getRandomValues, the browser's cryptographically secure random generator. Every address found is recalculated by a second, independent implementation before you see it.

Copies and other generators

A page like this creates your keys, so a modified copy could steal them. Copies can look identical and sit on similar domains. Check the site address before searching, and use the offline file for larger amounts.

Never use a phrase or vanity address that someone else generated for you: whoever made it can keep a copy.

Performance

Speed depends on your browser and device. Chrome is usually the fastest, followed by Safari and Firefox. Phones and tablets work, but much more slowly than a computer. The 24-word mode is about 100 times slower than 12 words.

Vanity Keys runs in the browser, so there's nothing to install, but browsers have limits. Command-line tools are harder to use and can be faster.

Compatibility

Addresses work on TON mainnet. They can hold GRAM (formerly Toncoin), tokens and NFTs, and receive withdrawals from exchanges.

12-word phrases import into Tonkeeper and MyTonWallet. 24-word phrases also work in Tonhub.

V5R1 (W5) is the default in current wallets. Choose V4R2 for services that don't support V5 yet.
